Adam Boost Pressure Actuator Fault

Hi, my 2012 Vauxhall Adam (gasoline engine) has a boost pressure actuator fault. The check engine light comes on a lot. I'm also getting reduced engine power, sluggish response, a whistling noise that turns into hissing when accelerating, occasional engine stalls, and increased fuel consumption. I think it might be the electrical bypass valve. Anyone else had this?

My Adam is newer, but I had similar turbo issues. Reduced power and a whistling sound like escaping air? I thought I had a boost leak for weeks. Did you check the actuator arm itself? Mine was sticking and messing with the boost pressure. What codes are you getting?

Yes, it sounds like escaping air. The actuator arm seems to move okay, but I haven't measured it exactly. The main code is P0243, for the turbocharger wastegate solenoid 'A' circuit. Does that sound familiar? What was the cause of your issue?

P0243 sounds familiar. I eventually figured out that the electrical bypass valve was bad. It looked fine, but the signals were off. The code was intermittent at first, then permanent. Get the valve tested or replaced. It cost me about 250€ for parts and labor. This whole turbo system is annoying.

Thanks for the info. I thought it might be the electrical bypass valve. I'll get it checked and replaced if needed. I will post the final diagnosis and fix.
