Adam Camshaft Sensor Issue

My 2018 Vauxhall Adam with a gasoline engine is acting up. It's got 86222 km on the clock. Starts rough, feels like it's lost power, and I've got an error code. My mechanic thinks it's the camshaft sensor, probably a dodgy wire or plug. Anyone seen this before? I'm getting stressed!

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my old Renault Megane. Same symptoms – rough starts, sluggish performance, and a persistent check engine light. In my case, it was also a faulty sensor, but on the crankshaft. Did your mechanic check the wiring harness for any corrosion or damage? That was the problem for me.

Crankshaft sensor, huh? Interesting. He mentioned the camshaft sensor specifically, but I guess they're similar systems. Was it just the dodgy connection, or did you have to replace the whole sensor? And how much did that cost?

Yeah, it was the connection itself. Corrosion had built up on the pins of the connector. Cleaning them up temporarily fixed it, but the issue returned. Eventually, I had to replace the connector and a short section of the wiring. Honestly, given your symptoms and the error code, your mechanic's diagnosis sounds spot on. If it's just the connection, you might get away with a cheap fix, but I'd advise letting a workshop take a look.

Appreciate the insight! It was the camshaft sensor connection, just like you and my mechanic suspected. A new connector and a bit of wiring later, and she's running great. Cost me 95€ all in. Thanks again!
