Adam crankcase ventilation issue

Alright, I've got a 2019 Vauxhall Adam with a gasoline engine that's throwing a fit. It's done 46476 km. The check engine light is on, the engine feels like it's lost half its ponies, and I'm seeing smoke when I put my foot down. Suspect it might be the crankcase ventilation valve playing up. Anyone else seen this?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my Adam. Check engine light, rough idle, and some smoke on acceleration. Has it got worse over time? A defective crankcase ventilation valve can cause all sorts of problems, including vacuum leaks. Basically, this valve is meant to regulate pressure and vacuum within the engine. When it fails, it can cause unmetered air to enter the system, messing with the fuel mixture and leading to those symptoms.

Cheers for the reply. Yeah, it's definitely been getting worse over the last few weeks. The smoke is intermittent, but the loss of power is pretty consistent now. What exactly did you do to fix it?

Well, in my case, it turned out the crankcase ventilation valve was indeed kaput. I tried cleaning it, but it was too far gone. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop. Continuing to drive with a faulty valve can cause further damage. Expect to pay around 360€ for the repair, including parts and labor.

Thanks a bunch for the insight! I'll book it into the workshop ASAP. Sounds like you saved me a load of grief diagnosing it myself. I'll report back on how it goes.
