Adam Overheating Electric Fan Issue

My 2012 Vauxhall Adam with a gasoline engine is overheating badly. I suspect the electric fan. The temperature gauge goes way up, especially in traffic. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds familiar! I had similar overheating with my Adam. Check the fan motor's cable and plug connection – that was the problem for me. Is the fan spinning freely when you try to rotate it by hand? It could be the fan clutch if it's stiff.

How did you figure out it was the cable? Is there an easy way to test it before I start taking things apart? And where is the fan clutch located? I've never worked on that before.

The fan wasn't working at all, even when the engine was overheating. A visual inspection showed the cable was corroded. If you're not comfortable tracing the electrics yourself, a workshop visit might be best. It saved me a headache.

You were right! I took it to a garage, and it was a bad connection on the fan cable. It cost me 95€ to get it fixed. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
