Adam Overheating Slow Warm Up

Coolant level is fine, no hissing. The temp gauge is all over the place though... but what does the temp sensor have to do with the engine taking longer to warm up?

Okay, gauge is fluctuating. That definitely points towards a sensor issue. As for the slow warm-up, a faulty thermostat can get stuck open, constantly circulating coolant and preventing the engine from reaching operating temperature quickly. I'm betting on the thermostat. Honestly? Just bite the bullet and take it to a shop. Could be a defective map thermostat. They will know how to diagnose these issues much more precisely than we can via the internet.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Sounds like a workshop visit is inevitable. I was hoping it was something simple, but better safe than sorry I guess. Turns out it was indeed the thermostat; cost me 350€ to get it sorted. All good now!

Sounds familiar! Had a similar nightmare with my old Peugeot 208. Overheating and slow warm-up are classic symptoms. Have you checked the coolant level? Also, have you noticed any weird temperature gauge fluctuations or any hissing sounds after turning off the engine? Could be a dodgy temperature sensor throwing things off too. Just thinking out loud here based on my past pain!
