Adam Rail Pressure Sensor

Thanks for the ideas. I checked the sensor's wiring and connectors but didn't see any problems like fraying or corrosion. The fuel filter was replaced about 20,000 km ago. Should I look closer at the wiring harness, or check the fuel pump's performance?

Okay, so we've ruled out the obvious stuff. Since you checked the wiring and the fuel filter is fairly new, I'd guess it's the sensor itself. Like a bad thermostat, sometimes they just fail and give wrong readings. Unless you have advanced tools like an oscilloscope to check the sensor signal, you're probably past DIY fixes. I'd take it to a good mechanic to confirm the sensor's output. They can also look for other problems that might have made the sensor fail early.

Thanks for the advice. I booked an appointment with a technician, and they also think it was a defective rail pressure sensor. After replacing it for 240€, the car is running like new again. Thanks!

Sounds like a pain. I've seen similar problems on other cars – that rail pressure sensor can be tricky. It's like the nervous system for your fuel injection, so bad signals cause engine problems. Before replacing the sensor, check the wiring and connectors. Loose connections or corrosion can act like a faulty sensor. Also, is the fuel filter new? A clogged filter can starve the pump, causing pressure issues that trigger the sensor. Let me know what you find.
