Adam Stalling Idle Reduced Power
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2014 Vauxhall Adam experiencing stalling at idle, reduced power, and a check engine light, with suspicions of a faulty fuel volume regulator and high pressure pump. The symptoms, including reduced fuel efficiency, suggest a defective high pressure pump affecting fuel regulation. It is advised to have a professional diagnostic check due to the complexity and potential danger of DIY repairs on high-pressure systems. The issue was confirmed by a workshop to be a defective fuel volume regulator caused by a failing high pressure pump.

Fuel efficiency has been a bit off, yes. How did you resolve the issue on your Adam? Was it definitively the high pressure pump, and did you experience any other unusual behaviour from the car sensors?

The reduced fuel efficiency, coupled with the other symptoms, strongly suggests a defective high pressure pump impacting fuel regulation. Given the complexity of the high-pressure fuel system in modern gasoline engines, I would recommend taking it to a workshop equipped with the appropriate diagnostic tools for a conclusive assessment. Attempting DIY repairs on high-pressure systems can be exceedingly dangerous without specialized knowledge.

Thanks for the advice. As suspected, the workshop confirmed a defective fuel volume regulator due to a failing high pressure pump. Repair cost 1510€.

I have an Adam too, and your symptoms sound eerily familiar to what I experienced a while back. Did you notice any changes in fuel efficiency prior to the engine light illuminating? It could provide additional insight. If the high pressure pump is at fault, a diagnostic check should confirm this.
