Adam transmission fault
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Vauxhall Adam owner is experiencing a transmission issue, with the engine warning light on and the gearbox in emergency mode. The problem is suspected to be related to the transmission oil pressure sensor. A suggestion is made to check the gearbox oil level, as low oil could trigger the sensor fault. The issue is resolved by topping up the oil and addressing the sensor problem at a workshop.

Yes, there are grinding noises when shifting gears. Regarding the oil level, I have not checked it. Is that a likely cause for the pressure sensor fault?

Okay, the grinding plus the pressure sensor makes me think it's quite possible you're low on oil and that's triggering the sensor. Look, I'm no mechanic, so don't take my word as gospel. But if it is low, you could do more damage driving it. Honestly, get it to a workshop ASAP. They can check the level, top it off, and properly diagnose the sensor issue. Best of luck!

I took it to a workshop. The gearbox oil level was indeed too low, triggering the pressure sensor. The repair, including topping up the oil and addressing the sensor issue, cost 365€.

Whoa, sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my Adam. Not saying it's the same, but my symptoms were eerily close. Were you experiencing any weird grinding noises when shifting? That's what sealed it for me. Have you checked your gearbox oil level?
