Albea check engine light and fuel consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Fiat Albea diesel is experiencing a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, possibly due to a faulty temperature sensor. A suggestion was made to check for exhaust system leaks, as these can affect the exhaust temperature sensor and engine management. After scanning error codes and inspecting the exhaust, a leak was found and repaired, along with replacing the sensor, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the tip! How did you figure out it was a leak? And was it definitely the exhaust temperature sensor causing all the problems? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary repairs, you know?

I scanned the error codes, and it pointed to the exhaust temperature sensor. Visually inspecting the exhaust, I found a hairline crack. Replacing the sensor didn't fix it until the exhaust leak was repaired. I would suggest checking for error codes first.

Okay, thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – a leak in the exhaust system was causing the sensor to go haywire. Got it all fixed, new sensor and exhaust repair, cost me 265€. Runs like a dream now!

Sounds familiar. I had similar problems with my Albea. Check your exhaust system for leaks. A small crack can throw off the exhaust temperature sensor and mess with the engine management.
