Albea diesel rough running
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Fiat Albea diesel was experiencing reduced power, rough idling, jerking during acceleration, and a loud hissing noise, leading to increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause was a problem with the intake manifold flap control. After consulting with a mechanic, it was confirmed that the intake manifold flap control was indeed the issue, and repairing it resolved the problems, restoring the car's performance.

Error codes? I haven't got a code reader unfortunately. The intake manifold flap control... is that a common problem then?

On the Astra, it was. The flap control switch went bad, causing all sorts of havoc with the engine's air intake. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a mechanic. Could save you a lot of headache. If it is the flap, the sooner you get it sorted the better for your engine.

I took it to a local mechanic and you were spot on, it was the intake manifold flap control. They quoted me 465€ for the repair. I've had it fixed now, and it's running like new again!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my old Opel Astra, though mine was a petrol. Reduced power and a hissing noise under acceleration. Check the intake manifold, especially the flap control mechanism. Could be a faulty switch. Have you checked for any error codes?
