Allion transmission issues

Hi, I'm having issues with my 2001 Toyota Allion with a gasoline engine. The paddle shifters don't work, the gearbox slips and shifts uncleanly, and there are grinding noises. The paddle shifters are also slow to respond, and the gearbox sometimes goes into emergency mode. There's an error stored related to the transmission. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Whoa, that sounds rough! I had something kinda similar happen with my old Opel Astra, but it wasn't quite as bad. My Astra was jerking when shifting gears, and the check engine light was on. Did you try checking the transmission fluid level? That's what I did first, but it didn't really fix anything, haha. Is yours an automatic?

Yeah, eventually! After pulling my hair out for weeks, I took it to a workshop, and they told me the transmission control module was fried. It cost me a fortune to replace, but at least it fixed the problem. With all those symptoms you're having, especially the emergency mode and error codes, it really sounds like it could be the control unit. I'd say get it checked by a professional ASAP!
