Almera Active Hood Fault Airbag Light
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Nissan Almera is experiencing an "Active hood fault" message and an illuminated airbag light. Diagnostics indicate an error with potentially triggered spring actuators, raising the possibility of a faulty acceleration sensor. Suggestions include checking the impact sensors and their wiring for damage or rust. Due to the complexity and involvement of airbags, consulting a professional mechanic is recommended for accurate diagnosis and repair.

Thanks! It just showed up suddenly, no accidents or anything. I haven't checked the impact sensor wiring yet. Can you tell me more about how to check the wiring and sensors?

Since it happened out of nowhere, it's probably not from an impact. But a bad sensor could still be the problem. It's hard to really check the sensors and wiring without special tools. Because it's complicated and airbags are involved, I'd get it checked by a good mechanic. It might cost you; mine was about 315€ to fix.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like getting a pro to look at it is the safest bet. I'll book an appointment with a workshop to get it checked out. Thanks again for the help and sharing what you went through.

I had a similar issue with my Almera – the "Active hood fault" and airbag light were always on. Did this start after a small bump, or did it just happen? Check if the impact sensors are working right. Also, look at the wiring to those sensors for any damage or rust.
