Almera Automatic Transmission Problem

My 2002 Nissan Almera diesel (nearly 200,000km) won't start in Park. The check engine light is on, and the automatic transmission shifts are slipping. Diagnostic tool shows transmission error codes, suggesting a control unit malfunction. Any ideas? Is it a transmission sensor, gear linkage, neutral position switch, or the gearbox itself?

Sounds familiar! I've got an Almera too, and I had similar issues not too long ago. The not starting in Park, the check engine light...yep, sounds like the same problem.

Really? What was the fix? I'm dreading a massive bill. Was it a sensor, or something more serious? Any details would be amazing!

Unfortunately, it wasn't a cheap fix. I ended up having to take it to a workshop. They said it was a defective control unit. Cost a pretty penny to sort out, but it fixed the problem completely.

Blast, that's what I was afraid of. A defective control unit. Well, thanks for the heads up; at least I know what I'm potentially dealing with. Looks like a trip to the shop is inevitable. Thanks for confirming!
