Almera Battery Drain
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Nissan Almera diesel experienced a complete battery drain, speedometer errors, and engine cranking issues. The problem was suspected to be a faulty battery sensor, which was confirmed by a workshop. Replacing the defective sensor resolved the issues, restoring the vehicle's functionality.

The battery is about two years old and the correct spec according to the manual. But why would that cause a total drain? Surely a slightly weaker battery wouldn't lead to all these electronic issues?

In my case, despite the battery seeming adequate, a defective battery sensor was the root cause. It was interfering with the charging regulation. I suggest a workshop for diagnostics.

Thanks for the tip! The workshop confirmed the battery sensor was faulty. It cost 315€ to sort it, but at least the Almera is back on the road. Cheers!

I encountered a similar issue with my old Volvo V70: error messages, weak lights, the whole shebang. Is the battery relatively new and of the correct specification?
