Alphard Overheating Issue

My 2015 Toyota Alphard with a gasoline engine is throwing up some issues. The check engine light is on, and the engine seems to be overheating. I suspect an active air flap fault, possibly a defective electromechanism. Anyone else come across this?

I had something similar on my Alphard. Was it flagging a fault code related to thermal management or the grille shutter? Could also be the flap motor itself. Is it running hotter than usual? Worth checking the basics before diving too deep.

Thermal management, yes, that rings a bell. Flap motor... possibly. I haven't had chance to dive in to it yet - I just wondered if anyone else had had this and if there were any straightforward fixes?

Sounds familiar, alright. My garage confirmed it was the electromechanism and replaced it. If it is the same in your case, it isn't a straightforward DIY fix, I am afraid. Just remember that if you go to a workshop, the repair cost may be around 590€.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a trip to the shop is in order then. I appreciate the help.
