Alphard Rear Seat Massage Failure
Summary of the thread
The rear seat massage function in a 2018 Toyota Alphard hybrid was not working, with the switch failing to activate it and an error stored in the system. Initial checks of the fuses revealed no issues, suggesting a possible electrical problem. The suggested solutions included checking the wiring harness and connectors under the seat for loose or corroded connections. Ultimately, a workshop visit confirmed a defective cable or plug connection as the cause, which was repaired.

Thanks. Yes, DTC from OBD-II, but I didn't note the specific code. For the wiring harness and connectors, is there a specific area I should focus on? Any common wiring failure points for the massage seat function in the Alphard?

Without the DTC, it's hard to say, but a code plus a non-functioning switch points to electrical. You checked fuses, so next would be a defective cable or plug. I'd still suggest a workshop visit; they can measure current flow and find the problem easily. It might save you time.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to a workshop, and it was a defective cable or plug connection, like you thought. Repair was 95€, which seems reasonable. Thanks again.

Massage seats in these can be complex. When you say 'error memory', is that a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) from an OBD-II scanner? If so, what's the code? Also, have you checked the wiring harness and connectors under the seat? A loose or corroded connection could cause this. Check the switch connector, repeated use can loosen it.
