Alphard Transport Mode Issue

My 2003 Toyota Alphard (gasoline engine) dashboard says it's in transport mode. There's also a general electrical malfunction and the navigation is dead. I've checked fuses and disconnected the battery. Only 54621 km on it, so wear seems unlikely. Any ideas?

That's odd. I had a similar problem with my 2016 Opel Insignia. Basically, the car thought it was still on the delivery truck. Does your key fob work properly? On my Opel, it was all tied to some anti-theft feature that got stuck during the initial setup. It’s like the car is still 'new' and hasn't properly woken up.

That's an interesting analogy! My key fob seems to work for basic functions like locking and unlocking, but perhaps it's not fully communicating with the car's computer. Can you elaborate on how the key fob was related to the transport mode issue in your Opel?

Well, in my case, the dealer had to perform some kind of software installation to fully activate the key and disable the transport mode. It was as if the car was only partially 'on.' Unfortunately, I don’t know the exact technical details of what they did. I would say you should visit a qualified mechanic to do some diagnostics, since this is outside of my area of expertise.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like my Alphard is suffering from a similar software hiccup. I'll schedule an appointment with a trusted mechanic to investigate a potential software installation or key fob re-programming to disable the transport mode permanently. Interestingly enough, after visiting the workshop, they fixed the issue with a software installation. The transport mode is now inactive. The repair cost was 0€.
