Thanks for the quick reply! You mentioned a faulty connection on your BMW. Was it obvious when you looked at it, or did you have to test the connection somehow? I had the error memory read, and there was indeed an error stored.

In my experience, the issue was not visible on first inspection. I located it by wiggling the cable while the car was running and observing the power steering behavior. It’s best to take it to a shop. They can properly diagnose the cable or plug connection of the component and have it repaired.

Just wanted to let you know your help was great! Took it to a shop, and you were spot on. It was indeed a defective cable connection to the power steering. They fixed it for 95€, and the steering is back to normal. Appreciate the advice!

I had a similar problem with my old BMW 3 Series. Symptoms sound identical: vibrating steering wheel, vague feeling. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty connection. Check the cable and plug connections to the power steering components. Is the error stored in the error memory?
