AMG GT Active Hood and Airbag Fault

The car seems to drive fine, no noticeable difference. And no, no close calls or anything that would have triggered it. You mentioned impact sensor, is that the same as an acceleration sensor? The error message I got pointed towards that.

Okay, the fact that it drives fine is at least somewhat reassuring! An impact sensor and an acceleration sensor aren't exactly the same, but they're closely related within the crash detection system. The acceleration sensor is likely a component within the impact sensor system. It sounds like that specific sensor is what the diagnostic tool is pointing to. Given all the symptoms, plus the fact that the spring actuators are firing, it really points to a faulty sensor. I don't think it is something you can fix yourself. You might be better off taking it into a workshop.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to my local mechanic and you were spot on. It was a defective acceleration sensor, just as suspected. New sensor, cleared the codes, and everything seems to be working fine. Total cost was around 315€, which isn't too bad I guess. Appreciate the help!

Active hood fault and an airbag light? That sounds seriously messed up! I've never dealt with that on an AMG GT, but I did have a similar airbag warning light issue on an older BMW after a minor fender bender. It turned out to be a faulty impact sensor that was messing with the whole safety system. Since your car's throwing codes about the active hood and the airbags, it sounds like something related to collision detection is acting up. Is the car driving normally otherwise? Have you had any close calls or anything that might have triggered the system? I have read that issues with the car electronics could cause the impact sensor to behave erratically.
