AMG GT Defrost Air Distribution Issue

I'm seeing some weirdness with my 2019 Mercedes AMG GT gasoline engine. The defrost air distribution flap seems to be acting up. Error's stored, and the heating output is just sad. I'm thinking it might be a cable or plug issue. Has anyone else run into this? Estimated cost to fix is around 95€.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my AMG, thought it was the heater core at first. Check the blower motor resistor and the climate control module connections. Sometimes a loose wire there can throw things off. Have you checked the HVAC unit fuses? Could be a simple fix before you chase the flap motor itself.

Good shout! Where exactly is the blower motor resistor located? Is it a pain to get to, or relatively straightforward?

On mine, it was tucked up behind the glove box, accessible after removing a few trim panels. It's not terribly difficult, but a bit fiddly. But honestly, considering the symptoms, and that cost you mentioned, the defrost air distribution flap itself might really be faulty. At that price I would take it to the workshop.

Cheers! Ended up being a faulty connection as you suspected. Workshop sorted it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Saved me from needlessly replacing the heater core or the entire climate control unit. Temperature regulation is back to normal!
