AMG GT Hybrid Engine Stalling and Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Mercedes AMG GT hybrid is experiencing engine stalling, power loss, and poor fuel economy, with the check engine light illuminated. The issue is suspected to be related to a bad fuel regulator or high-pressure fuel pump. After consulting with a mechanic, it was confirmed that the high-pressure fuel pump was defective and is being replaced, which should resolve the problem.

Yeah, it really does feel starved for fuel sometimes. Could the high-pressure pump failing also cause the check engine light? Can this damage the engine if I don't get it fixed immediately?

The check engine light is normal when there's a fuel delivery issue. The ECU detects the problem and throws a code. Running lean for too long isn't good. Get it checked out soon. My BMW had a faulty high pressure pump as the root cause. It won't be cheap.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to my mechanic, and you nailed it – the high-pressure fuel pump was defective. They're replacing it now, costing around 1510€. Hopefully, this fixes everything. I appreciate the help!

Check the high-pressure fuel pump. I had similar symptoms on my older BMW 5 series, different engine of course, and that was the problem. Reduced engine power, rough idling. Does it feel like it's struggling for fuel?
