Argo stalling at idle check engine light

Good morning, I am writing to report a problem I am experiencing with my 2020 Fiat Argo, gasoline engine. I have a check engine light that comes on intermittently, and sometimes the engine stalls at idle, especially when the engine is warm. The car has 235589 km. I've already checked the gas cap to make sure it's properly closed, but the problem persists. Could it be related to the tank ventilation system? I've read that a faulty pressure sensor can cause these symptoms. What are your thoughts?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Fiat Argo with a gasoline engine is experiencing intermittent check engine light activation and stalling at idle, particularly when warm. The issue may be related to the tank ventilation system, possibly due to a faulty pressure sensor. A suggestion was made to inspect the tank ventilation hoses for clogs, as similar symptoms were resolved in another vehicle by addressing clogged hoses. It is recommended to have a workshop inspect the hoses to avoid potential damage to the emission system.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there! Your issue sounds awfully familiar! I had almost the exact same thing happening with my old Opel Astra, though mine was a 2016 diesel. Check engine light, stalling at idle... drove me nuts! Turned out, the hoses for the tank ventilation were completely clogged with gunk. Seriously, it was disgusting! Did you happen to check those?

Thanks for the suggestion! I haven't checked the hoses specifically. Where exactly are these hoses located, and is it something I can inspect myself, or do I need special tools? I'm not very experienced with emission systems, so any guidance would be appreciated.

Okay, so on the Astra, they were a bit of a pain to get to – snaked around the fuel tank and charcoal canister. Honestly, unless you're comfortable getting under the car and fiddling with things, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. If those hoses are indeed clogged, forcing them open without knowing what you're doing could damage the pressure sensor or other parts of the emission system. My eventual repair for that was 175€, and I think that is a very reasonable price.

Thank you for your advice. I will take your suggestion and bring the car to a workshop to have the tank ventilation hoses inspected. It sounds like the most prudent approach, given my limited experience. I appreciate you sharing your experience with your Opel!
