Thanks for the reply! I haven't really poked around too much myself, to be honest. I'm not super mechanically inclined. When you had this issue, was it definitely the boost pressure actuator valve? And when you say 'error codes,' do you mean like, plugging it into one of those OBD things? Sorry if these are dumb questions, this whole turbocharger system thing is new to me.

Error codes can be extracted using an OBD scanner, which will assist in diagnosis. Considering the symptoms you have described, it is likely the boost pressure actuator. However, without inspecting the vehicle myself, or reading out the fault codes, I cannot be sure. Given the potential impact on your engine, I would recommend taking it to a qualified technician for proper diagnosis and repair, especially if you are not familiar with turbo systems. This issue may cause consequential damage if left unaddressed.

Thanks so much for the advice! You were spot on. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed it was the boost pressure actuator valve. New valve fitted and total cost was around 250€ (including labour). Runs like a dream now! I appreciate the help.

I understand you're experiencing issues with your Renault Arkana. I had similar symptoms some time ago. Whistling noises and reduced power indeed suggest a problem with the turbo system. The boost pressure actuator is a plausible culprit, as its malfunction can drastically impact engine performance. Have you checked for any obvious signs of damage to the actuator or the surrounding vacuum lines? Also, have you considered having the error codes read to pinpoint the exact fault?
