Arkana Camshaft Sensor Issue

I'm having some trouble with my 2019 Renault Arkana gasoline. It's got about 59436 km on it. Recently, it's been starting poorly, and the engine power feels reduced. I scanned it and it shows an error related to the camshaft sensor. Could a defective cable or plug connection really cause all this? Has anyone experienced similar?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Insignia. Same symptoms: rough idling, check engine light. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and plug connection thoroughly? Sometimes it's just a loose or corroded connector throwing things off. Was the error message clear about the camshaft sensor specifically?

Yes, the error code points directly to the camshaft sensor. I visually inspected the wiring and plug, and nothing immediately jumps out as broken or corroded. I cleaned the plug contacts anyway. You mentioned a similar problem with your Opel – did the error code also point directly to the camshaft sensor in your case?

Yep, same sensor mentioned in the error code on my Opel. Given you've checked the connections and the error persists, it might be time to get it properly diagnosed. Could be a faulty sensor, but it's best to confirm before replacing parts. I ended up at the workshop, and they confirmed it with their diagnostics equipment. Might save you some guesswork.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop and you were right; a faulty sensor was diagnosed. The repair, including the sensor replacement, came out to around 95€. Runs like new now!
