Arkana EGR Valve Issue

Hey, I'm having a real headache with my 2023 Renault Arkana gasoline. It's done 111348 km and now the engine light is on. I'm getting reduced power, plumes of smoke when I put my foot down, rough running, and the fuel consumption has gone through the roof. It also jerks and hisses when accelerating. Could it be the EGR valve? I've heard they can cause havoc.

The symptoms you describe are consistent with a defective EGR valve. Reduced engine power, the check engine light, smoke during acceleration, rough engine running, higher fuel consumption, jerking, and hissing all point in that direction. A jammed or faulty EGR valve can indeed cause these issues. Have you checked for any obvious vacuum leaks?

Vacuum leaks? Where exactly should I be looking for those? Is there a common place they happen on the Arkana?

While a vacuum leak could contribute, given the comprehensive nature of your symptoms, the EGR valve remains the primary suspect. Given your vehicle's mileage, the valve may be defective or jammed. I advise consulting a workshop for diagnostics and repair. Expect a repair cost around 355€.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. It was the EGR valve. Cost me 355€ to get it sorted, but at least it's running smoothly again now.
