Arkana electronic parking brake failure

Hi, I'm having trouble with the electronic parking brake on my 2023 Renault Arkana hybrid. It's done 180422 km. The handbrake isn't working, there's an error message, and a warning light. My garage thinks it might be a faulty electric motor in the brake calliper. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I start looking at replacing the calliper?

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Arkana. The electronic parking brake just failed, same symptoms: error message and warning light. I'd check the brake switch and sensor connections first. Are you sure the motor is defective? Did the garage provide a diagnostic code?

Thanks for the quick reply! The garage gave me error code C1085, indicating a problem with the right rear brake motor circuit. The mechanic seems pretty confident it's the motor but also pointed to the possibility of a faulty sensor. Where exactly are the brake switch and sensor connections located? I'll take a look myself before committing to replacing the calliper.

Ok, code C1085 pretty much confirms the motor. While it could be a connection issue, those are less common. I wouldn't waste too much time looking for those connections. In my case the mechanic said it was risky to drive it and advised a replacement of calliper in their workshop. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks for confirming. I appreciate your insights, it is really helpful. I've booked it in with the garage – the total cost including parts and labour will be around 505€. Hopefully, this resolves the issue permanently.
