Arkana Hybrid Brake Issue

Squeaky brakes, yes, sometimes! So, if it is undervoltage playing havoc, are we talking brake calipers or disc brakes needing attention, or is it something deeper than that?

The squeaky brakes alongside the spongy pedal strongly suggest a malfunction impacting the entire braking system, not merely individual components like brake calipers or disc brakes. Undervoltage can compromise the ABS and stability control systems, hindering their ability to regulate hydraulic pressure effectively. Furthermore, hybrid vehicles employ sophisticated electronic brake boosters. Given the complexity, I strongly recommend taking your Renault Arkana to a qualified workshop for a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation.

I took your advice and brought it in. Turns out, there was undervoltage causing the issue, like you suspected! They sorted it out and the brakes feel normal again. Total cost was 240€.

The symptoms you describe – a spongy brake pedal coupled with the hybrid system – do suggest a potential issue with the hydraulic brake system, possibly exacerbated by undervoltage. Modern braking systems, particularly in hybrids, are complex. Regenerative braking relies on electrical components, and any drop in voltage can affect the performance of the brake booster and, consequently, the pedal feel. Have you noticed any unusual noises such as squeaky brakes when applying them?
