Arkana hybrid engine power loss

I'm having some trouble with my 2022 Renault Arkana hybrid. It's got about 224k kilometers on it. Lately, the engine power has been noticeably reduced, and the car diagnostics are showing an error stored in the memory. Could a defective engine control unit be the culprit?

Reduced power and error codes usually point to ECU problems. Did you try a system reset? Sometimes that clears things up, but it could also be a sign of a deeper issue. What kind of error code are you getting?

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't tried a system reset yet. Is that something I can do myself, or is it best left to a professional? I'm not sure about the exact error code, but it mentioned something about the engine control.

If it's pointing to the ECU, and a reset doesn't fix it, it might be a defective main relay. Those can cause all sorts of weird engine performance issues. You're probably best off taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on – it was the main relay! Repair cost was around 120€. Runs like new again.
