Arkana Hybrid Overvoltage Faults

I'm having serious issues with my 2023 Renault Arkana Hybrid, about 185k km on it. Lately, I've been getting a ton of fault memory entries related to overvoltage, causing systems to fail. The battery seems weak when starting, and just general electrical gremlins. Could a heavily discharged or defective battery cause these overvoltage issues? Any ideas before I take it in?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Renault Arkana Hybrid with 185,000 km is experiencing overvoltage faults, causing system failures and electrical issues. The problem may be linked to a weak or defective battery, which can cause the ECU to malfunction and generate overvoltage errors. It is suggested to test the battery and check the charging system, as a failing battery might lead to the charging system overcompensating. Replacing the battery resolved the issues, restoring the car's functionality.

Sounds familiar! I had similar overvoltage problems with my old BMW 3 series, although it was a diesel. Loads of errors popping up and the car acting strangely. It might be worth checking the battery's condition and the charging system. Have you had the battery tested recently?

Thanks for the quick reply! No, I haven't had the battery tested recently. I just assumed overvoltage meant something was putting too much power into the system, not too little. So a weak battery could actually trigger overvoltage errors?

Yeah, it's counterintuitive, I know! But a failing battery can cause the ECU to freak out and throw all sorts of weird codes. The charging system might be overcompensating trying to charge a bad battery. I'd definitely get the battery checked, but honestly, with that many electrical issues, it's probably best to get it to a workshop with the right diagnostic tools.

Okay, that makes sense. I'll get the battery tested ASAP, but you're right, probably best to have a pro look at it. Thanks for the advice! It turns out it was the battery, just like you said. Got it replaced for 290€ and the car's running perfectly again!
