Arkana Rear Window Heating Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2021 Renault Arkana hybrid experienced a rear window heating issue, with the button light functioning but no heating effect. Despite a checked fuse and diagnostic tool indicating a low voltage error, the problem persisted. The suspected cause was a heavily discharged or defective battery, which was confirmed after a workshop visit. Replacing the faulty battery resolved the heating issue and other related electrical problems.

That's an interesting thought! The car starts fine, so I didn't think the battery was the issue. But now that you mention it, the auto start/stop hasn't been working lately, and I've noticed the headlights dimming slightly at idle. So, you really think a weak battery could be the culprit, even if the car starts okay? What did you do to fix your issue with the car defrost?

Well, mine also started fine most of the time, but it was definitely struggling sometimes in the cold. And yes, I had other electrical gremlins popping up too! It ended up being a faulty battery. I'd say it's worth getting your battery properly tested. I know it's a pain, but it might save you a lot of headache. Honestly, I'd get it checked at a workshop. They've got the right tools to diagnose it properly.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took your suggestion and brought it to a workshop, and you were spot on! Turns out the battery was on its way out, and that was causing all sorts of weirdness with the rear defroster and windshield heating. New battery and a bill for 290€ later, everything's working perfectly again! I really appreciate your help!

I've got a Renault Arkana too, although I'm not sure about the year. I had a similar problem with my rear defroster last winter. Does your battery seem weak when starting? I'm wondering if the low voltage error could be the key. I'm not a mechanic, but could it be that when the battery is low, the car is prioritizing other functions and cutting off power to the rear window heating coil? Have you noticed any other electrical issues?
