Arkana spongy brake pedal

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2021 Renault Arkana hybrid. I've noticed the brake fluid level is consistently low, and the brake pedal feels strange, almost spongy. The car has 100312 km on the clock. I suspect worn brake pads might be the culprit. Has anyone else encountered this?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I've got an Arkana too, and I had a similar issue with the brake pedal feel. Did you check for any leaks around the master cylinder or brake lines? That's the first thing I'd be looking at. It could be more than just worn pads.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't spotted any visible leaks, but I haven't done a thorough inspection of the master cylinder. When you had the spongy pedal, did the brake fluid level drop noticeably?

Yeah, the fluid definitely went down over time. I topped it off once, but it kept happening. Eventually, I took it in, and they found a slight leak in one of the rear calipers, plus the pads were pretty worn. Honestly, with the hybrid system, I'd just have a shop take a look. It's a complex system.

Appreciate the insight. I'll book a brake inspection. It's probably best to have a professional diagnose it properly. I ended up replacing the brake pads and rotors and got a fluid replacement, which set me back 480€. Thanks again!
