Arkana Sunroof Initialization Error

I've got a 2022 Renault Arkana hybrid with about 185k km. I'm getting a "sunroof not initialized" error. The sunblind is stuck, and the convertible top won't budge. I did some coding, could that be it?

Yep, coding is almost certainly the culprit. I've seen this a bunch. Seems like the sunroof module lost its adaptation data. Did you mess with any settings related to the body control module (BCM) or comfort systems when you were coding? Knowing what you changed can help narrow it down. Also, do you have access to a decent OBD scanner that can read fault codes specifically from the sunroof module?

I was indeed playing with some BCM settings hoping to enable comfort features. I have an OBD scanner, but I'm not sure if it reads sunroof module codes specifically. What kind of code am I looking for? Any specific terms should I search for in the scanner's menu?

Alright, BCM fiddling is the key! Look for fault codes related to 'sunroof initialization,' 'sunroof motor,' or 'sunroof position sensor.' Common codes might include stuff like "lost communication with sunroof module" or "sunroof motor calibration required." If you find anything like that, it pretty much confirms the coding wiped the adaptation. You'll probably need to get the sunroof re-initialized and calibrated, which often requires dealer-level tools. A decent independent workshop might be able to do it as well. Better get it checked to avoid further damage.

Thanks a lot for the insight! Turns out you were spot on. I took it to a local shop, and they re-initialized the sunroof module with their diagnostic tool. Cost me 75€ and it’s working perfectly again. I'll be more careful with the BCM next time!
