Arkana Transmission Control Unit Failure

My 2022 Arkana hybrid with 83348 km has a transmission control unit issue. Paddle shifters don't work, gearbox slips and shifts uncleanly, and I hear grinding during gear changes. Paddle shifters are slow, and the gearbox is in emergency mode, with a transmission control unit error code. Diagnostics suggest a defective transmission control unit, possibly needing replacement, costing around 1000€. Has anyone else had similar automatic gearbox issues? Any diagnostic advice?

I own an Arkana, and this sounds familiar. Slipping and emergency mode suggest a transmission control module issue. Before replacing it, check the transmission fluid level and condition. Low or contaminated fluid can cause similar symptoms. Also, try resetting the car's computer by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. It's a long shot, but it can fix minor glitches. What's the exact error code?

I checked the transmission fluid level, and it seems normal. The fluid looks clean, but I haven't had it analyzed. I haven't reset the computer yet, but I'll try it. The error code is P179F - Transmission Control Unit Defective. Does that align with your experience? Did it lead to a control unit replacement?

Yes, P179F rings a bell. That's the code I got. Resetting the computer didn't help me. Since you checked the fluid and the error code points to the control unit, you likely need to replace it. Get a second opinion from a workshop specializing in automatic gearboxes and transmission diagnosis to avoid unnecessary repairs. Good luck!

A specialized workshop was the next step. The diagnosis confirmed a defective transmission control unit. The repair cost 1000€, as estimated.
