Arkana Transmission Oil Pressure Fault

My 2023 Renault Arkana with a gasoline engine is acting up. The engine warning light keeps coming on, and sometimes the transmission light too. The error memory mentions something about a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. It's got 176082 km on the clock. The gearbox feels like it's in emergency mode, slipping and shifting really rough, almost like grinding sometimes. Could it be something serious?

That sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Arkana. A transmission oil pressure sensor fault, you say? Hmmm... Did you check your gearbox oil level? What kind of driving have you been doing lately? Any recent services on the transmission?

Gearbox oil level? I hadn't even thought of that! Where would I even check that? And could low oil really cause all these problems? Honestly, I've just been using it for my daily commute, nothing special. Haven't touched the transmission since I bought it.

Yes, low oil can definitely cause those issues! I had the same symptoms, and it turned out the oil level was critically low. This can lead to the pressure sensor reporting faults due to insufficient pressure. Ignoring it will almost certainly damage the gearbox. While you could check it yourself, given the symptoms, I'd strongly recommend getting it checked out by a workshop ASAP. I ended up paying around 365€ for diagnostics and top-up, so be prepared. It's better to be safe than sorry with these things!

Okay, thanks a lot! That's incredibly helpful. I'll get it straight to the workshop tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's just low oil and nothing more serious. Appreciate the advice!
