Arteon Oil Sensor Failure Triggers Multiple Error Codes

Got warning lights and sensor errors in my new Arteon. Oil pressure warning keeps coming on plus errors stored in the system. Think it could be a bad engine sensor, specifically the oil temperature sensor acting up. Anyone dealt with something similar in their Arteon? Running a 2023 gas model with 104420km. Last mechanic visit wasnt great, looking for advice before picking a new shop.

Had a similar issue on my 2020 VW Passat with the 2.0 TSI engine. The oil pressure and engine temperature warnings started appearing intermittently on the dash. Car diagnostics revealed multiple sensor errors related to the oil temperature sensor circuit. The root cause was a damaged wiring harness connecting to the automotive sensor. The connector had corroded due to oil seepage, creating false readings. The temperature sensor itself was functioning correctly, but the faulty connection was sending incorrect signals to the ECU. The repair required: Complete removal of the old wiring harness, Installation of updated connector pins, Replacement of the wiring sleeve, Clearing all stored error codes This was a serious issue that needed immediate attention, as incorrect oil pressure readings could lead to engine damage if ignored. After the repair, all warning lights cleared and engine temperature readings returned to normal. Would strongly suggest having a full diagnostic scan done focusing on the sensor circuits. The oil temperature sensor system in the Arteon is similar to other VW models, so any VW-certified shop should be familiar with this issue.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Had almost identical symptoms with my Arteon last year. The temp sensor errors and oil gauge warnings were quite concerning at first. Great to hear the wiring harness fix worked for you. Did other related issues pop up afterwards? Also, curious about the repair costs, was it expensive to get everything sorted with the sensor replacement and rewiring? Just want to make sure I get a rough idea of costs before heading to the shop, since car diagnostics and sensor work can vary quite a bit in price. My local VW specialist quoted quite high for the engine sensor check alone.

Since getting the repairs done, my Arteon has been running perfectly with no recurring temp sensor issues. The car diagnostics confirmed it was just a faulty engine oil temperature sensor, specifically the cable connection that was causing those concerning oil gauge readings. The total repair cost came to 95€, which covered fixing the defective plug connection to the sensor component. Much more reasonable than I initially expected, especially compared to some quotes I received. The engine temperature readings have been steady and accurate ever since the repair. The key was finding a shop that properly diagnosed the exact connection issue rather than suggesting a complete sensor replacement. No additional problems have emerged in the months following the fix. The car sensor system now works exactly as intended, with stable oil pressure and temperature readings across all driving conditions. If your symptoms match what I experienced, you might be dealing with the same straightforward connector issue rather than needing extensive repairs.

Thanks for the advice. Finally got my Arteon fixed and wanted to share how it went. Took it to a certified VW shop that specializes in engine sensor diagnostics. Turns out it was exactly the same wiring harness issue. The mechanic found corrosion in the connector feeding data to the oil temperature sensor. They cleaned and repaired the connection rather than replacing the entire unit. Total bill came to 120€ for diagnostic work and fixing the wiring. Much better than the 400€ quote I got from my previous shop for a complete sensor replacement. Car diagnostics showed all codes cleared after the repair. Been driving for 2 weeks now without any warning lights or oil gauge issues. Engine temperature readings are stable and everything runs perfectly. Really glad I got a second opinion instead of going with that first expensive quote.
