Aslan Poor Starting
Summary of the thread
The issue with the 2016 Hyundai Aslan was poor starting, suspected to be due to a rapidly draining battery. Possible causes included a short circuit or parasitic draw, with suggestions to check for voltage drop across the battery terminals using a multimeter. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a heavily discharged and defective battery, which was replaced, resolving the starting issues.

Voltage drop, okay. I'm not really familiar with multimeters, but I can borrow one from a friend. Could you explain a bit more about what kind of reading I should be looking for, and where exactly should I place the multimeter probes? Also, would a defective starter motor cause this?

A normal voltage drop should be minimal, something like 0.01-0.05V. Higher than that indicates a current leak. Place the probes on the battery terminals themselves to get an accurate reading. While a failing starter motor could contribute, a parasitic draw is a more probable cause given your symptoms. I'd advise you go to the shop.

Thanks for the help! I took it to a workshop, and it turned out the battery was heavily discharged and defective, causing the starting issues. They replaced it, and everything seems fine now. Total cost was 290€.

Sounds like a potential short circuit. I had a similar issue with my old 2012 BMW 3 Series. Check for any significant voltage drop across the battery terminals when the car is off. Do you have access to a multimeter?
