Astra ABS Failure

Has anyone experienced an ABS lamp lighting up, ABS failure, and a stored error in a 2023 Vauxhall Astra Hybrid? The car has about 187578 km. I suspect it's a defective lateral acceleration sensor.

That sounds frustrating. I had a somewhat similar situation with my 2018 Volvo XC60. The symptoms you describe are similar to what I experienced when my electronic stability control module began to fail. The Volvo's ESC system also relies on lateral acceleration data to maintain vehicle stability. Did you perform a diagnostic scan to confirm the error code related to the lateral sensor, or to identify any other faults in the electronic control system?

Thank you. Yes, a diagnostic scan confirmed the lateral acceleration sensor fault. The scan indicated the affected control unit is likely defective. Did your Volvo also indicate a faulty control unit, or was it strictly the sensor itself?

Ah, yes, I see. It sounds as if we are in the same boat. In my case, the diagnostic pointed towards the control unit needing replacement as well, indicating the sensor fault. Considering the complexity and integration of these systems, and from my experience, I would recommend consulting a reputable workshop for a thorough evaluation. They can verify the diagnosis and potentially explore repair options before a full replacement.

I appreciate your insights and shared experience. Based on your recommendation, I took the vehicle to a workshop. They confirmed the defective control unit and proceeded with the replacement. The repair cost was approximately 1000€. Thank you again for your help.
