Astra Air Con Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Vauxhall Astra diesel is experiencing an air conditioning fault, with an error stored in the memory and a warning light on the dashboard. The issue is suspected to be related to the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger. After checking connections and considering the possibility of a faulty AC control unit, it was confirmed by a mechanic that the AC control unit was indeed the problem, leading to its replacement and resolution of the issue.

Yeah, I checked the connections. Everything seems solid. The error codes specifically point to the heat exchanger temperature sensor. Could it be the AC control unit itself?

Ah, if you're getting specific codes for the heat exchanger sensor and you've checked the wiring, it's likely the AC control unit playing up. Had the same thing. Saved myself some bother and took it straight to a mechanic. They ran some diagnostics and confirmed it. Best to get it looked at properly.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. They confirmed the AC control unit was faulty and replaced it. Cost me 980€, but at least the air con is working again!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 307. Error codes popping up all over the place, and the climate control was completely dead. Was a real pain, especially in summer. Did you try checking the sensor connections? Sometimes it's just a loose wire.
