Astra Automatic Transmission Stuck in Park

I've got a 2022 Vauxhall Astra hybrid with 160883 km on the clock and am having trouble with the automatic transmission. It seems to be stuck in park. The engine won't start, the check engine light is on, and the gearbox shifts very roughly when I manage to get it going, which isn't often. An error code is also stored. From what I've read, it might be a defective control unit. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Sounds rough. I had a comparable issue with my old Skoda Octavia. Different car, I know, but similar symptoms – engine wouldn't start, and the gearbox felt like it was fighting me. Was it flagging any specific error codes?

Yes, it is showing an error related to the gear selector/transmission position sensor. Did your Skoda throw the same kind of code? And what did it end up being?

Yeah, something along those lines, a transmission sensor error, or maybe neutral position. Honestly, I can't recall the exact code. Turned out to be a faulty control unit too. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they sorted it. Best to get it checked.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll get it booked into a workshop ASAP. The defective control unit was the issue and cost about 1000€ to repair.
