Astra boost pressure sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Vauxhall Astra is experiencing engine issues, including the engine light being on, jerking during acceleration, whistling and hissing noises, stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. These symptoms suggest a potential boost pressure sensor fault, possibly due to a cable or plug connection issue. After scanning for codes and inspecting the wiring, it was discovered that a corroded connector pin was the cause. Replacing the sensor and connector resolved the problem, restoring the car's performance.

Yeah, I scanned it. Showed a boost pressure sensor fault. I checked the sensor near the intake manifold, but the wiring looks okay at first glance. Any specific areas on the cable or plug I should focus on?

Honestly, I fiddled with mine for ages and couldn't pinpoint it. Turned out to be a corroded pin inside the connector. If you're not confident tracing it, I'd get a workshop to check it out. They have the proper tools to diagnose it properly.

Cheers for the advice. Took it to a local shop, and you were spot on – corroded connector pin. New sensor and connector fixed it, costing 95€. Runs like a champ again!

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my Astra: check engine light, jerking, the works. That whistling is likely a boost leak somewhere in the turbo system. Boost pressure sensor faults are common. Has the car been scanned for codes?
