Astra check engine light and exhaust leak

I'm having a problem with my 2020 Vauxhall Astra gasoline engine. It has 225804 km on it. The check engine light comes on sometimes. A scan showed an error about NOx storage catalyst aging. Also, I've noticed an exhaust leak. Could these be related and mean there's a bigger problem with the emissions system, maybe affecting air quality? What should I do?

Check engine light and exhaust leak? Sounds familiar. I had something similar with my Astra, though I can't remember the exact error code. Was the leak near the catalytic converter?

The leak seems to be coming from a joint in the exhaust system, maybe near the NOx catalyst. Did you have exhaust leak symptoms with the check engine light?

Yep, that's it. I'm no mechanic, but that exhaust leak is probably messing with your readings and causing the NOx catalyst error. I wouldn't risk driving it too much, could cause more damage. Best bet is to get it to a workshop and have them check the exhaust system thoroughly.

Thanks for the advice. I'll book an appointment with a mechanic to check the exhaust system for leaks that may be affecting the NOx catalyst. The error was caused by a leak in the exhaust system and the repair cost was 265€.
