Astra Crankshaft Sensor Issue

Wiring to the cam sensor seems okay on visual inspection - no obvious breaks or corrosion. I haven't checked the timing chain but, given the low mileage, I would have expected that to last longer. Did you ever find out what the problem was on your Peugeot in the end?

Yeah, it turned out to be a faulty crankshaft sensor. Replaced it, and all the problems vanished. Given your error code and symptoms, that crank sensor is looking increasingly suspicious. Unfortunately, it's a fiddly job without the right tools. Unless you're really confident, I'd get it to a local garage to get it checked over.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate you sharing your experience. Took it to a local garage, and you were spot on. Crankshaft sensor was indeed the culprit. New sensor fitted, and the car is running like a dream again. Cost me 340€ all in.

I had similar issues with my old Peugeot, though it was a diesel. Same symptoms: check engine light, sluggish response, drinking fuel like mad. The error code was different but related to timing. Have you checked the wiring to the cam sensor? It might be a loose connection or corroded wire. Or maybe the timing chain has stretched.
