Astra cruise control fault

My 2002 Vauxhall Astra diesel, with 76896 km, has developed a cruise control fault. It simply stopped working. I've run diagnostics and there's an error stored, pointing towards a potential wiring issue. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered this?

I had a similar issue with my Astra's cruise control. Though I don't know what year your Astra is, it might be worth checking the brake light switch and the clutch pedal switch, just in case. A faulty switch can sometimes disable the cruise control. Have you checked those?

Thanks for the info. Did your error memory point to the same potential cause (wiring)? And did the brake lights work normally when the cruise control failed, or was there some other symptom?

My car didn't specifically flag a wiring issue, but the symptoms were the same - cruise control refusing to engage. The brake lights worked fine too, which made it even more confusing. I ended up taking it to a workshop, and they found a fault with the steering wheel clock spring.

Appreciate the insight. Clock spring makes sense given the error points to wiring. The estimated repair cost is 95€, which confirms the clock spring being the culprit. Thanks!
