Astra Electric Fault Memory Lock

I'm having a weird issue with my 2023 Vauxhall Astra Electric. It's done 189941 km. The car keeps throwing a 'Fault memory lock active' error. All I get is 'Error stored in the error memory' showing up on the dash. I've checked the basic stuff, like making sure everything is plugged in properly, but no luck. Could it be a bigger problem with the computer system or control unit?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Vauxhall Astra Electric is experiencing a 'Fault memory lock active' error, with the message 'Error stored in the error memory' displayed on the dashboard. The issue may be related to an undervoltage problem affecting the car's computer system or control unit. Checking the battery voltage and getting ECU diagnostics are suggested solutions, with professional diagnosis recommended for accurate identification and resolution. The problem was confirmed as an undervoltage issue by a garage, which resolved it.

I also have an Astra (not the electric one, but still). Sounds like the error might be due to undervoltage. It’s like when your phone acts weird when the battery is super low. Have you checked the battery voltage? Maybe get your ECU diagnostics checked?

Undervoltage, huh? That's interesting. I haven't specifically checked the voltage, but I haven't noticed any issues starting the car or anything like that. Where exactly should I be looking to check for this undervoltage issue? Is it something I can do myself with a multimeter, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

Indeed. It's often not obvious like a dead battery. Think of it as a slow leak in a tire, not a blowout. While you could check with a multimeter, you'd likely be better off getting it professionally diagnosed. In my case, the error disappeared after a workshop visit. Likely a control unit issue caused by low voltage. They can pinpoint it properly with the right equipment.

Thanks for the advice! I booked it in with a local garage, and you were spot on. They confirmed it was an undervoltage issue causing the fault memory lock. Cost me 240€ for them to sort it out. Appreciate the help!
