Thanks for the quick response. When you say check the wiring harness and plug connections, are there any specific areas that are more prone to failure on this model? Also, is there a relay related to the wiper system, and if so, where is its usual location?

Given the error code, I would suspect the steering column switch gear. The location and condition of the wiring harness connection there should be verified. The relays on these newer models are usually incorporated into a central control module, rather than being discrete components. With the mileage your vehicle has achieved, I would advise attending a reputable workshop to have them resolve this cable or plug connection defect professionally.

Appreciate the information; that’s pretty much what I suspected as well. I had a local garage take a look and, as you and their diagnostics suggested, it was a defective connection in the wiring harness related to the steering column. 95€ later and everything's working as expected.

A complete failure of the windshield wipers on a relatively new Astra, with an error code, strongly suggests an electrical fault. I would recommend checking the wiring harness and plug connections associated with the wiper motor and the steering column switch gear. Are you able to check the voltage supplied to the wiper motor when the switch is activated? If there is no voltage, the fault likely lies upstream, towards the switch or its wiring.
