Astra Flickering Lights Weak Battery

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my 2023 Vauxhall Astra Hybrid. It's done 55602 km and recently, I've noticed the battery seems weak when starting the engine. Also, the lights sometimes flicker or appear dim, especially at idle. I've checked the battery terminals, and they seem clean and tight. Could this be a voltage sensor issue or something more serious?

I had something similar with my Astra. The symptoms you describe, weak start and flickering lights, sounds exactly like what happened to me. Have you had the battery health checked? Could be a dodgy battery sensor causing low voltage readings.

Thanks for the quick response! How did you confirm it was the battery sensor? Did you get any error codes, and did the issues appear intermittently? Any further details that could help me narrow it down would be appreciated!

No error codes, which made it a pain to diagnose. After some research and comparisons to other Astra owners describing similar issues, I was pretty sure it was the battery sensor. Because I lack the expertise to further investigate this myself, I took it to a workshop and they confirmed my suspicion: Defective battery sensor. Best to get it checked by a professional; don't want to get stranded somewhere!

Thanks a lot for your advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – it was indeed a faulty battery sensor! They replaced it, and the total cost was around 315€. The car now starts perfectly, and the lights are steady. Appreciate your help!
