Astra Fog Sensor Issue

I have a 2005 Vauxhall Astra diesel, and I'm encountering a rather odd issue. The fog sensor seems to be malfunctioning. Specifically, there's an error stored in the error memory, the air conditioning system refuses to switch on, the windscreen spray nozzles are frozen even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heating is non-functional. Could a defective cable or plug connection really cause all this?

Interesting set of symptoms. Have you checked the basics, like fuses related to the climate control and mirror heating? Could also be a grounding issue affecting multiple systems. Has the car had any recent work done that might have disturbed any wiring harnesses?

I did check the fuses, all seem to be in order, but I didn't consider a grounding issue. Where would be the most likely location for a grounding point that would affect all these systems? Regarding recent work, the car had its MOT a month ago, but I don't see how that could be related.

Given the interconnected nature of these systems in modern vehicles, a single grounding point serving multiple components is certainly possible. The engine bay or near the climate control unit itself would be my initial suspects. However, with so many seemingly unrelated issues, it might be prudent to have a workshop perform a diagnostic check to pinpoint the exact cause. They possess the tools to trace electrical faults efficiently.

I appreciate the input; I'll take your advice and book it into a workshop. Turns out you were spot on. It was indeed a defective connector as suspected, costing me 95€ to resolve. Thanks again!
