Astra handsfree microphone failure

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2023 Vauxhall Astra hybrid. The hands-free microphone seems to have completely stopped working. Telephony is no longer possible, and when I scanned for errors, it showed an error stored in the error memory. I've tried checking the Bluetooth connection, fiddling with the sound quality and volume control settings, and even attempting voice recognition, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas before I take it to a dealer?

Hey, I have an Astra too, although I can't remember the exact build year. I had something vaguely similar happen a while back. The whole system seemed to glitch out, and I couldn't use the hands-free at all. It was incredibly frustrating because I rely on it a lot. Have you tried completely resetting the infotainment system? Sometimes that clears up weird software issues.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did try a soft reset through the menu, but maybe a full reset is what's needed. When you say 'glitch out', did yours also show any specific error messages? And how long did it take before you noticed the problem?

Yeah, when I say 'glitch out,' I mean it was completely dead. I don't remember seeing any specific error messages, but I also wasn't actively looking for them. It happened pretty suddenly – one day it was working fine, the next nothing. Based on your description, it does sound like the infotainment system might be defective. If a full reset doesn't fix it, I'd seriously consider a workshop visit. I'm afraid that is what I had to do.

Thanks a lot! I did the full reset as you advised, but that did not help. I took it to the dealer, and they confirmed that the infotainment system was indeed defective. They quoted me 815€ for the microphone repair and replacement. I appreciate you confirming that my issue was likely a hardware problem rather than a simple fix. Cheers!
