Astra Hybrid Battery Issues

I've got a 2022 Vauxhall Astra hybrid with about 163k km on the clock that's giving me headaches. The battery seems heavily discharged. I'm seeing an error message, the lights are weak and flickering, and I get a 'low battery' error stored in the memory. Starting the engine is a struggle too. I've checked the battery terminals; they seem clean and tight. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Vauxhall Astra hybrid with 163,000 km is experiencing battery issues, including heavy discharge, weak and flickering lights, and starting difficulties. The problem is likely due to a faulty battery sensor, which can cause improper charging cycles and battery drain. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a professional, leading to the replacement of the faulty sensor, which resolves the issues.

The symptoms you describe for your 2022 Vauxhall Astra hybrid indicate a potential issue within the electrical system. The error message coupled with weak lighting and starting difficulties suggests insufficient power delivery. Have you had the battery load tested to ascertain its capacity under load, and could you tell me the exact error code?

I haven't had a load test done yet. I can try and get the error code when I have time, but would a faulty battery sensor cause all these issues? I was reading up on battery drain and saw a few people mention similar problems.

A faulty battery sensor could indeed be the culprit behind the issues you are experiencing with your Vauxhall Astra. Erroneous sensor readings can lead to improper charging cycles and subsequent battery discharge. However, for a definitive diagnosis and resolution, I recommend taking your vehicle to a certified workshop for professional inspection and diagnostic procedures. Be prepared for an expense in the neighborhood of 315€.

Appreciate the advice! Took it to the shop, and it turned out to be the battery sensor, just like you said. Got it replaced and everything's back to normal. Thanks again!
