Astra Hybrid Turbo Issues

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not really a car expert, so could you explain a bit more about the actuator valve and pressure sensor? Where are they located, and how can I check them? Also, what exactly is an 'electrical bypass valve' and what does it do? Sorry for the questions, just trying to understand!

No problem! The actuator valve controls the turbocharger's boost pressure, allowing it to provide more power. The pressure sensor monitors the boost levels. If the electrical bypass valve, which regulates pressure, is faulty, it can cause all those symptoms, as the computer doesn't know what's going on with the turbo. Honestly, without proper tools and knowledge, it's best to take it to a workshop. I ended up paying around 250€ for the repair, but at least it fixed the issue completely.

Thanks so much for the advice! I was dreading taking it to a mechanic, but you're right, it sounds too complicated for me to handle myself. I'll book it in and mention the turbo actuator and electrical bypass valve. Hopefully, they can sort it out quickly. I really appreciate your help!

Hey, I also drive an Astra, though I have the petrol version. Your problem sounds very similar to what I experienced a while back. The symptoms you describe, especially the loss of power, whistling, and hissing, point towards a problem with the turbo system. Have you checked the actuator valve or any of the pressure sensor connections? A defective electrical bypass valve could be a likely culprit, considering the stalling issue at idle.
